Some projects are about small improvements. This one? It was about a complete transformation from the ground up, blending hardscaping, softscaping, and modern irrigation into one seamless design. Located in Mississauga, ON (L5J 2A5), this $20,000–$25,000 project turned a tired outdoor space into a functional, beautiful, and low-maintenance retreat in just one week.

Backyard Interlock Patio Installation

We began with a complete excavation of the patio area, ensuring a solid base for years of durability. After marking the space and confirming utility locations, our crew excavated to a depth of 7 to 8 inches, compacting the soil and installing Geotech landscape fabric for stability.

The base was built with three to four inches of clear gravel, carefully compacted before leveling with High-Performance Polypropylene (HPP). Premium interlock stones were then laid with precision, gaps filled with polymeric sand, and edges secured with concrete to prevent shifting. The result is a backyard patio that is both beautiful and built to last.

Front & Back Sod Installation in Partnership with The SodFather

For this project, we partnered with SodFather, experts in premium sod installation across Southern Ontario. Their team’s precision and speed instantly transformed the property’s green space.

Here’s how it was done right:

Marked installation zones and protected existing landscaping with plywood.
Flagged all sprinkler heads to avoid damage during grading.
Removed up to three inches of old turf using sod cutters or a Bobcat.
Added premium triple-mix topsoil for optimal drainage and fertility.
Graded with a gentle slope away from buildings to prevent pooling.
Rolled the soil, then installed freshly cut Kentucky Bluegrass from Greenhorizon in a staggered pattern for strength and uniform growth.
Trimmed and rolled again for firm root contact, then provided a care package with maintenance instructions.

The new lawn immediately elevated curb appeal and set the stage for years of healthy growth.

Landscape Planting & Armour Stone Features

We cleared out old plantings while keeping the mature cedar and refreshed the beds with a selection from Sheridan Nurseries. This included a Japanese maple, three hydrangeas, four Japanese yellow grasses, and assorted accent plants.

Six pieces of armour stone were strategically placed in the front and backyard for structure and visual interest. Mulch and triple-mix soil were added for plant health and a neat, finished look.

Modern Irrigation System

A new Rain Bird sprinkler system was installed, complete with a Rain Bird timer and full coverage for the lawn and garden beds. All connections were carefully set up to ensure optimal performance, with a two-year warranty on the system and three years on the timer. This gives the client peace of mind that their lawn will stay lush with minimal effort.

Landscape Lighting for Ambiance and Safety

Eight strategically placed fixtures — four up-lights and four pathway lights — now highlight the property’s best features while improving evening safety. The low-voltage system was tested and fine-tuned for perfect coverage.

Powerwashing for a Fresh Finish

Finally, we pressure washed the paved areas using 4,800 PSI, applied cleaning chemicals, rinsed again, and sealed the surfaces. Gaps were filled with geo polymeric sand for stability and a polished, “just-installed” appearance.
